All test caps are compatible with ABS and PVC pipe materials. The Knock-Out, End-Cap and MS End-Caps can be solvent welded to ABS or PVC materials with solvent cement matching the pipe material. 

The toilet and lavatory sink pipes are already sealed against infestation as they pass through the concrete floor. Shower drains are sealed during installation, but tub drain are left exposed as they pass through the concrete. The Oatey Tub Boxes are designed to seal the tub drains that are exposed from under the concrete floor. The tub drain is installed inside the Tub Box before the concrete floor is finished, and the pipe penetration sealed. This completes an insect and rodent free installation.

Yes. The access panels will accept most paint materials and wallpapers. We suggest that you check with the paint and wallpaper manufactures for their recommended installation instructions before attempting these applications.

No. All tubs are different and the following factors must be considered when selecting a tub protector; height, length, width and shape. Oatey offers tub protectors that fit the following tub designs:

• 14”D x 60”L x 30”W – rectangle
• 15”D x 57”L x 30”W – rectangle (fits 14” tubs)
• 16”D x 60”L x 42”W – rectangle
• 16”D x 60”L x 30”W – oval
• 16”D x 60”L x 44”W Multi-size adjustable (14” to 16”) - rectangle 

Tub protectors can be used to protect your tub against most accidental damages during new construction or renovation projects.

The Oatey toilet base plate is made from high impact ABS material and is designed for this application. After removing the toilet, clean all debris from tile surface and fill in voids if tile   is missing. Place the toilet base plate into position around the toilet flange and set the toilet. After the toilet is tested, apply a small bead of silicone around the base of the toilet and the toilet base plate. 

No. The arrestors are gas filled and sealed with internal O-Rings. The only way that the arrestor will fill with water, is if one of the internal O-Rings fail. The O-Rings cannot be replaced and the arrestor would have to be replaced. 

Yes. Oatey hammer arrestors are gas filled chambers which absorb shock no matter what angle they are installed. 

The Vicat softening temperature is 180°F

They can be mounted directly to the hot and cold connections on the back of washer or to the hot and cold water shut offs for the washer. We recommend they be mounted to the hot and cold shut offs for more stability.

The floor sink could be located in the middle of a floor or under a fixture. In either location; a full grate could be used to allow water to flow freely into the drain and help stop garbage from entering the drain and creating a blockage. The full grate will also allow for general foot traffic without tripping hazards. When under a fixture, you may have one or more drains draining into the floor sink. This is where the half and three quarter grates are used to accommodate an opening necessary to receive the incoming drain pipes, while providing some protection against garbage flowing into the floor sink.  

The floor sink is generally installed in light duty commercial applications, kitchens and mechanical rooms. They are not designed for areas where heavy weight loads could be applied on top of the grates, garages or loading docks. 

The roof drain should always be set onto the base of the roof structure unless otherwise specified by a roofing materials manufacture or project engineer. After the drain is secured into place using the Underdeck Clamp Kit, the roof would then be flashed (waterproofed). The insulation, other roofing materials and finishes are set into place according to the roofing materials manufacturer or the project engineer. 

Oatey offers a #47700 Underdeck Clamp Kit that is recommended for every roof drain installation. This clamp is placed below the roof and attached to the drain body with 4 pieces of threaded rod, and 4 nuts. Once installed the clamp will secure the drain body in place so that the waterproofing seal is less likely to be compromised. 

No. Waterproofing materials can only be applied in series with our flanged drain assemblies. Please visit our website to select the right drain for your project.

Yes. The #34169 – 28”x30” pan does not have ribs.

No. It is very unlikely that you would be able to create a watertight patch, and this would void any manufactures warranties. If you need a pan without holes for your application, we offer several pans for you to choose from:

• 22” Plastic Pans #34066 do not have holes stamped into them.
• Aluminum Pans are available without holes in all sizes.

Plastic and aluminum pans are available in the following sizes:

• 18” / 20” / 22” / 24” / 26” / 28” / 30” and 32” 
  • Make note that these are interior dimensions and the exterior dimensions for each pan size is plus 1”  

The standard depth for the aluminum and plastic pans is 2½”.

• We also offer 3” deep plastic pans in all sizes for those areas where 3” depth is required. 3” deep pans are only available in 18” / 20” / 22” / 24” / 26” / 28” and 30”

We offer 3 different fitting adaptors for our pans:

•  #34086 - 1” inside & 1½” over PVC Adaptor. This adaptor allows you to solvent weld a piece of 1” PVC or a piece of 1½”PVC pipe into the adaptor.
• #34088 – 1” inside & 1½” inside PVC Adaptor. This adaptor allows you to solvent weld a piece of 1” PVC pipe into the adaptor, or solvent weld a 1½” PVC fitting hub onto the adaptor.
• #34089 - 1” CPVC adaptor. This adaptor allows you to solvent weld a piece of 1”CPVC into the adaptor hub.

You should always check with your local building and fire officials before installing a plastic
pan above a finished ceiling. If the return air to the furnace is not isolated through air tight
duct work or the open ceiling is used for the return air, the plastic pan should never be used. If
the plastic pan is used in these applications and exposed to flames, the toxic smoke can be
drawn back to the furnace and distributed throughout the building.

The plastic pan is not approved for gas water heater installations, and the aluminum pan must
be used. The plastic and aluminum pans are approved for electric water heater installations.
